NCANA Outstanding Service Recognition Award
This award recognizes a CRNA whose outstanding service this year has made a measurable impact on the Association and the profession of nurse anesthesia. Honorees go above and beyond expectations—investing their time, expertise, and leadership to advance advocacy efforts, strengthen member engagement, support workforce initiatives, and enhance access to high-quality anesthesia care across North Carolina. Their dedication exemplifies servant leadership and unwavering commitment to professional excellence.
Purpose:
To recognize exceptional service within the current year that significantly advanced NCANA’s mission.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Current NCANA member in good standing.
- Demonstrated active service to NCANA during the award year.
- Cannot be currently serving on the NCANA BOD or the NCANA Nominating Committee.
- Must not have previously received the award.
Selection Criteria:
Nominees should demonstrate all of the following:
- Significant volunteer leadership within NCANA (committee work, task forces, board service, advocacy days).
- Meaningful contribution to legislative efforts, membership growth, workforce initiatives, or educational programming.
- Service that exceeded normal expectations.
- Measurable impact during the award year.
Key Distinctions:
- Time-limited (this year’s impact).
- Focused primarily on service to NCANA.
- Not necessarily career-long or public-facing.
Frequency: May be awarded annually. Multiple recipients may be recognized if merited.

Working in the best interest of the NCANA and giving freely and unselfishly of her time and expertise, she had kept many NCANA Presidents and Board members informed about various pieces of legislation that could impact nurse anesthesia practice. |
