Supporting Our Community in the Aftermath of Hurricane Helene

To our members, 

I hope this message finds you safe and well. Considering the recent tragedy caused by Hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina, our hearts are heavy with sorrow. The devastation from the storm has impacted many lives, including our friends, family members, colleagues, students, and the patients we serve. 

As healthcare professionals dedicated to the well-being of others, it is especially difficult to see our community suffer. I want to acknowledge the resilience and strength of those affected and offer our deepest sympathies to those enduring loss and hardship during this difficult time. Our thoughts are with every person touched by this disaster. 

In the spirit of unity and support, we encourage our members to take action to assist with recovery efforts. We can contribute in many ways, whether through donations, providing support, or sharing essential resources. Below are a few ways you can help: 

American Red Cross - Disaster Relief
Donate funds to provide shelter, food, and support for those displaced by the hurricane.
  
Western North Carolina Community Foundation - Emergency and Disaster Relief Fund
This fund will support local recovery efforts, including rebuilding communities and providing critical supplies.

United Way of Western North Carolina - Disaster Recovery
Contribute to local initiatives providing emergency services and long-term recovery assistance. 

NC Disaster Relief Fund
The state’s official fund for recovery efforts, helping to rebuild communities and offer immediate aid to those impacted. 

Manna Food Bank
Located in Asheville, North Carolina, is a private, not-for-profit service organization working to end food insecurity in the 16 counties of Western North Carolina.
